Want to get involved hands on? Long Beach Rescue Mission has several opportunities
for people of all ages and abilities to serve those less fortunate in our city. Different
volunteer opportunities include:
Food Service
Help prepare the meal, serve it to our guests, and clean up afterwards. Food service times are available in the mornings and early evenings.
Holiday and Special Events
Extra volunteers are needed for special annual events including Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, Christmas toy and stocking drives, back to school backpacks drive, and more. Please check with the Volunteer Coordinator for current events.
Lydia House
Volunteer at our women and children’s facility with our after school program, and special events.
Long Beach Rescue Mission Thrift Store
Volunteer by sorting and hanging clothes, assisting customers, and cleaning. The store is located one block away from Long Beach Rescue Mission, at 1313 Pine Avenue.
Chapel Service
Apply to be a part of our daily evening chapel service. Volunteers are needed for worship and teaching. Ask the Volunteer Coordinator for a volunteer chapel application.
General Office
Volunteer in helping with general office needs and projects weekdays during normal business hours.
Arts and Music
Artistically or musically talented? Ask the Volunteer Coordinator how you can use your talents to benefit the mission.
Off Site Volunteering
Organize a food, toiletry, clothing, or furniture drive, or a fundraiser to benefit Long Beach Rescue Mission. Opportunities also available to help with PR on events and the mission itself. Ask Jenn for ideas and how to get started!
Complete the Volunteer Application, and mail or fax it to the Volunteer Coordinator. Once the Volunteer Coordinator has reviewed the application, she will contact you about attending a Volunteer Orientation. Volunteer Orientation is required for every individual volunteer and the leaders of volunteer groups. It is not required for holiday only volunteers. Please inquire for times of orientation. You must be ten years old to volunteer on site at Long Beach Rescue Mission, and volunteers of junior high and high school age must be accompanied by a parent or adult such as a youth leader, teacher, etc.
